To the real estate companies who seem to find it impossible to pick up their signage long after a house has been sold: We often have signs lying on the ground broken up for weeks after the sale is completed. While I understand that it's good advertising to leave the sign there with a "sold" sticker, once they have fallen over and broken up they become a real eyesore.

Last Friday, my wallet was inadvertently left at a checkout in Albany Pak n Save. Within minutes, staff discovered the wallet and contacted the ASB call centre, who placed a hold on my credit card. ASB immediately called my wife, who contacted me by mobile. The entire operation was completed in less than 20 minutes. My thanks and compliments to both Pak n Save and ASB staff for their prompt attention.

It has been a while since I learned to drive but I don't remember the Road Code or instructors telling me that in New Zealand the right-hand lane is the fast lane. Drive in the lane in which you feel comfortable!

Heartfelt thanks to Lisa and Mike who left their picnic and helped me get my van out of a muddy hole at the Barn Paddock campground at Huia last Monday. Lisa got behind the wheel and Mike helped me push. Later, another Mike from the AA came and towed me the last metre back on to solid ground. You guys are the greatest!
