I see more vehicles in Auckland that do not stop for pedestrians at the actual pedestrian crossings and some have been near misses - two I've seen this year where a car is just inches away from a child crossing the zebra crossing. So come on NZ, get it together and stop when a pedestrian is either waiting or crossing at a crossing - an extra minute added to your journey is not going to matter. It works both ways.

I took Hamish, who is autistic and rugby mad, to our local park, to kick a rugby ball around - unfortunately he kicked the ball and it landed on top of a high softball net. We were standing there wondering what to do when a man got out of his car and offered to help. We realised we needed a long stick and I remembered we had one back at Hamish's home. This gentleman insisted on driving us back there - and he drove us back to the park, where he got the ball down.

I'm concerned at the gross over-confidence I see daily of motorcyclists on learner plates. As an experienced rider, I cringe to see the poor decision-making skills and straight up lack of foresight on display. Can we do them a favour and begin policing them please.

Sunday morning, just before 11am, I got to the checkout and a lovely young man was serving. He had a special personal and flattering remark to make to each person in line and then chatted the entire time. I left the supermarket with a smile on my face and I'm sure many others did that day as well. You are lucky to have such an enthusiastic employee, Pak'nSave.

Perhaps the Council/Transport should take more notice when reports are sent by concerned locals about blocked drains and gutters caused by the lack of regular maintenance.
