To the courier drivers who are under the impression they are the only ones on the road: Stop tempting fate. Many couriers do a commendable job but unfortunately the few ruin it for the many. I came literally millimetres from an accident on three occasions last week due to courier vans cutting corners, flying through give-way signs or doing absurd u-turns on major thoroughfares.

I would like to say a massive thank-you to the evening attendant who works at Z petrol station on Kepa Rd in Orakei. I went to pick up my son from rugby practice and couldn't find him in the dark. The attendant kindly lent me his personal cellphone to call some friends. Your kindness was very appreciated.

People on the bus who use the seat next to them for their bags - forcing passengers who hop on later to ask for them to be moved - or, worse yet, who stonily ignore other passengers are just plain rude ... and I find that on the North Shore, it's often students travelling to school.

I commend the big-rig truck drivers I experienced on Tuesday on state highways from Turangi to south of Auckland for their considerate and safe driving. Auckland's cowboy truckies have a lot to learn.
