Love the road safety enthusiasm from a student who attends Glenavon School. He was standing there waving a "SLOW DOWN!" sign with a huge smile on his face.

So Greg O'Connor wants armed police! Is this his answer to the fact that the police budget has been under a sinking lid and we no longer have the numbers on the street to make the public feel safe?

The local committee and the Auckland Council have done a magnificent job in their "makeover" of Orewa beach and the new facilities, especially with the children's playground. I was up there recently in the school holidays and what a great sight it was. Parents and grandparents looking after all ages of children who were having a great time.

How many times have we all heard people talk about "two in a row"? To my mind, you need at least three of anything to make a row. Surely the correct thing to say must be "two in succession"?

Today we went to C.R.S. Paint & Panel in Kent St, Newmarket, to fix two little scratches on the bonnet of our car. They looked at it and said drive in and even though they were busy with lots of cars there, they fixed it while we waited. When we then asked how much it was so that we could pay, they said, "Look at this as your first Christmas present, no charge."
Thank you James and your very pleasant staff for a lovely experience.

I am immensely irritated by television commentators who say "dove" and "pled" when they mean "dived" and "pleaded".
