Little wonder the Masterton Red Star Rams White under-11s rugby squad is in a state of high excitement.
In exactly a week's time they will be heading to Wellington to rub shoulders with their heroes, the mighty All Blacks, at a closed training session.
The honour comes after they were chosen from more than 600 other teams around the country enrolled in the Small Blacks VIP programme as the winners of the Small Blacks Watch the All Blacks train competition.
Coaches Peter Semmens and Brent Montgomery broke the news of their success to the players at their training session last Thursday evening and they were ''thrilled to bits'' to not only hear they would be able to watch the ABs go through their paces but to get the opportunity to meet them as well.
''It's going to be something they will cherish for a lifetime ... not only the kids but the management team,'' Semmens said. He said thanks to sponsorship from Auto Electrical Services, the players would be wearing white T-shirts printed with their club logo and that these could be autographed by Richie McCaw, Dan Carter and the team.
Interestingly the Rams White squad is one of only a handful of JAB teams in the Wairarapa-Bush union to have a female playing for them ... in their case they have three. And, what's more, one of them, Lauren Balsillie, has shown girls can indeed do anything by making the Wairarapa-Bush under-11 reps.
