It was the clash of the titans when Rams and Gladstone under-11s met in a highly anticipated Wairarapa-Bush JAB rugby fixture last weekend and it was Rams who prevailed 15-7.
Both sides were unbeaten going into this match and the game was a cliffhanger, illustrated by a scoreless first half with neither team able to gain superiority.
The second spell started well for Rams and they raced out to a 10-0 lead through tries to Alesana Malatai and Lathan Aull. Anybody who thought Gladstone were done with, however, were sadly mistaken as they lifted their performance, dominating territory and possession and finally being rewarded with a converted try to busy No8 Jack Ryan.
The last 10 minutes saw both teams spurred on by their vocal supporters and it was Rams who had the final say, Cody McGlashan touching down for an opportunist try right on fulltime. Player of the match for Rams was their speedy winger, Quin Riddell, who used his pace to telling effect.
