Rain continues to fall in the Gisborne area but there's relief in sight.
The district has had a deluge of rain with 400 millimetres falling in some places over the last four or five days, especially in the north.
MetService forecaster Erick Brenstrum says it's still raining in the very north of the district.
"It's expected to ease off in the next three or four hours, up around east cape they have had 75mm in the last 24 hours."
Erick Brenstrum says several other places have had 43 to 49 millimetres in the past 24 hours.
