It's likely to be a wet start to the long weekend for most parts of the country, but the rain is expected to clear and be replaced by sunny skies for Anzac Day on Monday.

It is much the same story for Whangarei; a wet few days will be followed by a sunny and warm Monday.

Meanwhile, in Napier sunny skies are expected today followed by rain tomorrow and a drizzly Monday, while in Wellington, rain should soak the capital today but ease tomorrow. Monday is expected to be fine with a high of 16C.
