Heavy rain and high lake levels have forced the closure of several walking tracks in the Queenstown Lakes area.
Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) parks manager Gordon Bailey said there had been washouts and scouring in some places, leading the council to close the Wanaka Glendhu Bay Track, the Kelvin Peninsula Walkway and the Wanaka Outlet Track.
"We advise recreational walkers to postpone any planned excursions on these three tracks for the time being.
"The QLDC has made every effort to signpost the track closures but signs don't always stay put," Mr Bailey said.
People should also take care on other tracks.
