Up to 300 rail passengers were left waiting at the station for up to an hour when the centralised traffic control centre in Wellington lost all signals in the Auckland region last night.
The lost of signal meant three trains on the Western track had to stop until they could safety make it to the nearest station. Passengers were then transported to their destination via bus and taxi.
Passengers waiting at Britomart were given free drinks during their wait.
The problem occurred at 5.30 and was expected to be fixed by 11pm.
