KiwiRail is warning Kapiti commuters to expect delays on the Paraparaumu line this morning after an upgrade to the signalling system encountered "unexpected complications".
Paraparaumu trains would run to the usual timetable but express services would stop at all stations and services from Porirua were cancelled, KiwiRail general manager Deb Hume said.
"This is expected to create some modest delays at all stations but KiwiRail is confident that trains will be running approximately every 20 minutes, although their arrival may vary from the published timetable," she said.
KiwiRail staff and contractors worked through the night to try and restore regular signalling operations on the line after complications during a scheduled upgrade yesterday.
Ms Hume apologised for the delays.
