Auckland police say they have made a significant dent in the city's drug scene with the arrest yesterday of 14 people on cocaine, methamphetamine and cannabis-related charges.
The arrests were made during a series of dawn raids involving 140 police and customs staff.
A total of 17 properties across West, Central and East Auckland were searched.
Drugs, guns and money were seized, but police could not say how much.
Two of those arrested were members of West Auckland's Headhunters gang.
The bust was the result of months of electronic surveillance work by the Auckland organised crime squad and customs staff.
The armed offenders squad was called in to search two of the properties yesterday.
"The success of this operation means the flow-on effect will be beneficial, with many periphery crimes also being stopped," said Detective Inspector Bruce Good, the officer in charge of the operation.
He said police found a hydroponic cannabis-growing operation, as well as chemicals believed to be used for making drugs.
Mr Good said more arrests were expected.
Police have named a man they are seeking in relation to the drugs operation. He is Brett Lionel Allison, aged 41
They say he is dangerous and should not be approached.
Nine of those arrested appeared in the Auckland District Court before Judge John Callander on various drug charges yesterday.
