Raglan harbour is now safe for swimming after a sewage leak a week ago, but it remains off-limits to fishers and shellfish collectors.
Waikato District Council said about 10 cubic metres of untreated wastewater entered Raglan Harbour at high tide on Friday after the main inlet pipe to the Marine Parade pump station collapsed.
The council said today that test results on water samples showed the water quality had returned to safe marine recreational levels, meaning the harbour was now safe for swimming.
However, it would not be safe for fishing until Sunday, or seafood collection until April 24.
Warning signs will remain in place until then.
"The council wants to extend its thanks to the Raglan community for their patience in this matter," council service delivery manager Tim Harty said.
