Radio Hauraki listeners in Hawke's Bay got more than they expected this morning, when they heard a man who broke into the station tell the disc jockey he was not funny.
A 29-year-old man was arrested after allegedly breaking into the studio.
He accused radio announcer Willy de Wit of "not being funny anymore", Napier police Senior Sergeant Tony Dewhirst said.
Four announcers were left "shaken" after a man climbed the fire escape to get into the building, station manager Philip Stevens said.
Much of the incident was on air as the DJ tried to keep the show going throughout the incident.
The intruder kicked out the perspex panel of the fire escape window and climbed through it, Mr Stevens said.
"The jockey told him to go away and he started to yell abuse and obscenities.
"He was halfway up the hallway when he was confronted by one of the other morning crew. His language was pretty foul.
"He said he wanted to go to the toilet and was led off to the toilet while someone called the police."
Mr Dewhirst said the man was extremely intoxicated at the time of the incident.
A man has been charged with unlawfully being in a building and will appear in Napier District Court on Wednesday.
