Embattled Radio New Zealand employee Lynne Snowdon has been sacked.
RNZ communications manager John Barr said last night that Ms Snowdon's employment had been terminated "as a result of her employment irretrievably breaking down".
Ms Snowdon and the state-owned broadcaster have been locked in a long-running dispute that had seen her off work but still paid more than $100,000 a year since January 2003.
She went on sick leave after falling out with former chief executive Sharon Crosbie over budgeting issues.
