"It is fantastic to go shopping with a stylist and not have to bother looking at the price tag," she said. "I'd love to be able to do that in everyday life.
"I have also been given some good input on what I can wear on screen, so it is a bit of a dream role all round."
The Cafe launches just three months after TVNZ said goodbye to its long-running programme Good Morning.
Rival broadcaster MediaWorks is hoping to capitalise on the gap in the mid-morning market with its own hour-long magazine-style show, which starts at 9am.
The Cafe will feature popular guests and regular experts covering food, finance, travel, celebrity, parenting, fashion, beauty, DIY and home decor.
"Mike and I have known each other for a long time and we will be aiming for a natural rapport, like you would get on radio," Homer said. "The show will be relaxed and informal but pacey.
"We don't want things to be over-scripted and a lot of the time we will just be riffing it."
The new TV job will mean mum-of-three Homer will have to set her alarm for 4.30am because she is shifting her present Mix 98.2 slot to present the breakfast show, from 6am.
"I'm going to be bloody busy all the time but, doing the two roles is too good an opportunity to turn down," she said. "I am pretty chaotic at the best of times, so I am going to have to get a bit more organised.
"To make this all work I will have to draw up some proper lists and prioritise between family life and my jobs."
