Heavy showers early in the morning may have put off a few participants in the Anzac Day Child Cancer walks and runs but although numbers were down, efforts were up to scratch with good competition.
Matthew Heard returned a good time in the 2km under-12 race and the first three home all beat last year's top time.
In the 5km, Eddie Barnett ran barefoot and was home a minute clear of second place. First woman home was Sahyla Farley with Jon Roskvist of Trentham heading the walkers.
The 10km walk competitors were down in numbers with the average age in the late-50s.
Terri Grimmett, of Wellington club Scottish, was in a class of her own, winning the race outright with over 4min to spare from Ian Morton.
The 10km run proved fertile hunting ground for the Paine siblings with Stevie first woman overall and first under-20, Vicki first in open women and Kurtis sixth overall and first under-20.
David Hood was the first man home heading Malcolm Swanson by 19sec with Gavin Champion 8sec further back.
