It is too soon to say whether anyone will face charges after a man was shot while rabbit shooting on a Hawke's Bay farm yesterday, police say.
The 28-year-old victim was airlifted to Hawke's Bay Memorial Hospital after he was shot in the torso at a farm in Paget's Road, Takapau, about 9am.
He underwent surgery to remove the bullet, and Senior Sergeant Stuart Fleming said his condition stable this morning.
Mr Fleming said initial information was that the shooting happened while the victim and a 26-year-old man were out rabbit shooting with a .22 calibre firearm.
The investigation was continuing and it was too soon to say whether charges would laid in relation to the incident.
