QUESTION: Wairarapa College head of language resource Elizabeth Meredith helps Year 10 student Harley Kidman, 15, research his question for the PTA quiz this Friday. After writing the question, Harley was filmed asking the question in French for replaying during a round in the quiz.
A quiz round with a twist - students on video asking the questions - will be part of the Wairarapa College PTA's annual quiz evening on Friday.
Funds raised from the quiz, which will run in the school hall, will go towards the language resource department. Ten students supported by
the department each video-recorded a question which will be played back on the night.
Wairarapa College assistant principal Jo-anne Bisset said language resources helped numerous students and staff members, which is why the department had been chosen as quiz funds recipient this year.
"It helps support students for a huge variety of reasons," she says. "It is totally focused on students achieving."
Head of language resource Elizabeth Meredith said the funds will be used to support student learning by purchasing resources like Word Q or additional teacher aide hours in class or for individuals. "Our budget is really tight - funding is precious," she said.
