Quin Tikis musician dies

Richard "Weazel" Tairoa, a former member of 1960s Maori show band the Quin Tikis, is dead after a car accident in the United States.

Tairoa, who lived in New Mexico, was killed after his vehicle rolled just west of the Texas state line last week. He was 61.

A regular on the New Mexico and Texas music scene, he was thrown from the car and then hit by a truck.

Tairoa was one of the seven members of the Quin Tikis, which was formed in 1961.
