Masterton's chapter of Loved 4 Life now has close to 100 quilts "on the go", thanks to a hard-working team of local crafters.
Loved 4 Life Masterton, a partnership between Whaiora Wairarapa and Quilter's Lane, was set up last month to provide every newborn baby in the region with a personalised, handmade quilt.
It is currently working alongside Loved 4 Life Carterton, and aims to provide quilts for the 500 babies born in Wairarapa every year.
The group has held two weekend-long "quilt-a-thons" at REAP House and, as a result, has completed 30 quilts and has 92 quilts in various stages of production, said project co-ordinator Victoria Te Tau.
A Loved 4 Life quilt is a 60cm square made from 100 per cent cotton, featuring the word "loved" or "aroha", with a personalised label for each baby.
