KEY POINTS:
A quick-thinking train driver managed to stop his passenger train just metres short of a 12-tonne truck falling on to the track ahead of him near Petone yesterday morning.
The truck rolled down a bank off the Korokoro Rd overbridge on to the northbound track and blocked the line.
The truck driver escaped with minor injuries.
