Ten Auckland trucking firms will work together tomorrow to collect donated goods for a city-wide garage sale for victims of family violence.
The companies will deliver containers to 17 collection sites from Orewa to Pukekohe, where the public have been asked to bring donations between 8am and 1pm.
Volunteers will load goods into containers, which the trucks will pick up at the end of the day.
The collection is the first of a series between now and November 18, when the goods will all go on sale at the "Get Organised Auckland" event at the Greenlane showgrounds.
Organisers hope to raise $500,000 for Preventing Violence in the Home, which helps women and child victims, operates a national helpline and runs anti-violence courses for men.
"We've already had a lot of people phoning in and replying to our web guide saying we have a lot of stuff to bring in," said logistics organiser Van Henderson.
The campaign is looking for furniture, clothes, shoes, books, toys, houseware, office equipment and other items, but can't take electrical or electronic goods for safety reasons.
