Police will this week speak to the mother of a 4-week-old baby run over and killed in an Auckland driveway eight days ago.
Kaylah Kelly-Rose Wood died after being struck by her mother Vivianne Wood's BMW at a property on Kaurilands Rd, Titirangi.
Wood had gone to visit friends who lived at the house just after 1.30pm.
Police dispatchers told officers on their way to the home a car had rolled, injuring the mother and running over the child.
Paramedics could not revive the newborn.
Sergeant Stu Kearns of the Waitemata serious crash unit hoped to interview Wood this week. Until she had been interviewed police could not establish exactly how Kaylah died.
However, Kearns said it appeared the car started to roll backwards as the young mother reached over from the driver's seat to the passenger side of the silver BMW to grab something.
