Queenstown ski field to open

Queenstown ski field Coronet Peak is set to open tomorrow, thanks to its snowmaking and grooming teams.

It will open at 9am with limited beginner, novice and intermediate terrain available.

Snow cover is thin with 15 to 20 centimetres on the upper mountain and 10 to 15 centimetres on the lower mountain.

Coronet Peak ski area manager Hamish McCrostie says 211 snowguns have been blazing as much as temperatures allow since Monday evening.

He says snowmaking and grooming teams have done an absolutely amazing job considering conditions have been less than ideal at times.
