Queenstown police seek information on burnt out vehicle

Queenstown Police are seeking information regarding an abandoned burnt out vehicle.

A member of the public discovered the vehicle on fire at about 5am on June 6, near the Sunshine Bay Boat ramp area of Glenorchy Rd.

It had been completely burnt out and a scene examination showed that an accelerant was used by the offender(s), Detective Grant Miller said.

Queenstown Fire and Police were notified and attended the scene.

It was the second suspicious vehicle offence that had occurred in the Sunshine Bay area and Fernhill area in recent weeks, he said.

Police were conducting enquiries into this matter and were seeking information from anyone in the area at the time or with further knowledge of the matter.

Residents of these areas are encouraged to ensure their vehicles are locked when unattended, especially overnight.
