Queenstown brings in new liquor ban

Queenstown Lakes District Council has announced a new liquor bylaw, banning booze in town centres between 10pm and 8am.

The council had considered a 24-hour-ban but yesterday agreed on the softer option which will be introduced on December 1, the Otago Daily Times reported.

Breaching the bylaw can result in fines up to $20,000.
