A Queen's Counsel appointment round will be held this year, says Attorney-General Michael Cullen.
The round was deferred in February because the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill was about to be passed by Parliament, but the legislation has been delayed.
It would have meant a new appointment mechanism, and Dr Cullen said he had decided to hold the round under the existing process.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by June 30.
