Queen St traffic heavier than usual

Armoured vehicles from the Army's Linton-based 1st Battalion took a late-morning spin down Queen St yesterday to introduce themselves to the public and form an unofficial bon voyage party to colleagues heading off on peacekeeping duties.

Five LAV IIIs have been in Auckland training with the city-based 3rd Battalion, which is sending a 40-strong heavy platoon to the Solomon Islands in March.
