KEY POINTS:
A survey on New Zealand men's grooming habits is perpetuating the stereotype of the Auckland male.
The Gillette Fusion Grooming Survey conducted by Colmar Brunton reveals Auckland men are the most likely to have silky smooth legs and baby soft skin.
Almost a quarter of Auckland male participants have shaved their legs. They are also the biggest spenders on grooming products and services.
The survey also reveals that more Waikato men have shaved their groin area than their counterparts in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin combined.
While those south of the Cook Strait have less use for the razor, Christchurch blokes were most likely to use cologne.
Public Relations Manager at Procter & Gamble Alicia Ohannessian said as well as the more light-hearted findings, the survey also offered some valuable insights into male grooming, a subject not often talked about by Kiwi blokes.
She said the standard of male grooming in New Zealand is not as poor as commonly perceived, as men are taking better care of themselves and understand that respectable grooming is not only a woman's domain.
Ms Ohannessian said New Zealand is seeing a new generation of style conscious men who take pride in their appearance.
