A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Masterton this morning, GNS Science reported.
It said the 7.02am jolt was centred 10km from the Wairarapa town, at a depth of 25km and would have been felt in the lower North Island.
At 4.14am a 3.5 magnitude earthquake hit 20km south-east of Hastings in Hawkes Bay, at a depth of 50km at 4.14am.
Last night a 3.4 magnitude quake hit 20km north-west of Te Araroa, near Gisborne, at a depth of 40km at 11.09pm.
Meanwhile, aftershocks continue to hit Canterbury after the September 4 quake, although are decreasing in frequency.
A 3.5 magnitude aftershock centred 30km south-east of Darfield at a depth of 12km struck at 11.17pm yesterday.
