GeoNet is reporting three earthquakes which have struck near Christchurch and Whanganui this morning.
The first was at 12.55am 10 kilometres north-east of Diamond Harbour at a depth of 10 kilometres and measured 4.3 on the Richter Scale.
Whanganui was then struck at 2.05am with a magnitude 4.7 quake 30 kilometres west of Whanganui at a depth of 110 kilometres.
The third quake hit at 8.19am, 10 kilometres east of Christchurch at a depth of 11 kilometres and measured 3.8 on the Richter Scale.
