A seemingly calm and still Avon-Heathcote Estuary, in Christchurch, is turned into a churning mess by one of the tsunami that hit New Zealand on Sunday, following the earthquake in Chile hours before.
As the camera looks out at the water where a small boat sits, the murky wave rushes in, swamps the boat, then carries on towards what is normally the estuary's edge in less than two minutes.
The clip, posted on YouTube by vivhead1, was shot at 5.30pm on Sunday - 21 hours after the earthquake occurred.
