An earthquake has rattled residents in South Canterbury today.
The 4.3 magnitude quake struck at 3.42pm, GNS Science reported.
It was centred 50km west of Timaru and was 5km deep.
One Timaru businessman said his windows shook but no damage had been reported, a Timaru police spokeswoman told NZPA.
