KEY POINTS:
An earthquake measuring four on the Richter scale was widely felt in the Napier region, last night.
The quake struck 10km east of Waipawa at about 8.20pm and had a focal depth of 40km.
The quake had attracted over 50 reports on the GNS website before 8am and was strongly felt on Bluff Hill in Napier and the nearby suburb of Taradale.
