A quake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale was widely felt through-out the top of the South Island and bottom of the North Island last night.
The quake had a focal depth of 70km and struck 60km west of Paraparaumu, shortly after 9pm.
It has been widely reported on the GNS website with 58 people reporting the quake through-out the Marlborough and Wellington regions by this morning.
The quake was felt as far west as Tata Beach in Golden Bay and as far east as Waikanae on the Kapiti Coast.
