Quake on West Coast

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter Scale hit near Haast, on the West Coast, early this morning.

Geological and Nuclear Science said the 6.01am quake was centred 10km south of Haast, at a depth of 12km.

It was likely to have been felt in Haast.
