An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale just outside the Wairarapa township of Greytown last night.
The quake was widely felt throughout the region and as far south as Wellington.
The quake had a focal depth of 30km and struck at 9.54pm.
It had attracted over 450 reports on the GeoNet website by 7.45am.
