Quake, magnitude 5.3, felt across lower North Island

A fair-sized earthquake has been felt across the lower North Island, and the top of the South Island.

The tremor was at about 2.20 this morning.

It was centred 90 kilometres south of Opunake, and measured 5.3 on the Richter Scale.
