An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale jolted parts of the Manawatu and central Hawke's Bay this morning.
The quake was centred 20km south of Dannevirke, in southern Hawke's Bay, and was at a depth of 50km.
The shake at 9.48am would have been felt from Dannevirke to Palmerston North, Geological and Nuclear Sciences said.
Today is the 75th anniversary of the devastating Napier earthquake.
