Quake hits Marlborough

A moderately sized earthquake hit the Marlborough region early this morning.

The magnitude five quake struck the area at 5.32am today.

GNS Science said it was centred 40km north-west of Porirua and was 60 km deep.

The quake was felt throughout the Wellington area.
