Quake felt in lower North Island

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake has struck near Levin in the early hours of the morning, GNS Science has reported.

The quake was centred 10km south-east of the Manawatu town at a depth of 40km and hit at 1.15am.

GNS Science said the earthquake was felt throughout the lower North Island.
