The final member of the Sanson-Rejouis family killed in the Haitian earthquake was recovered yesterday from the remains of a collapsed hotel.
Nelson woman Emily Sanson-Rejouis survived but her husband, United Nations worker Emmanuel Rejouis, and two daughters, Kofie-Jade, 5, and Zenzie, 3, died.
Another daughter, 2-year-old Alyahna, was found alive underneath her father's body and evacuated to the Dominican Republic.
The bodies of Mr Rejouis and Zenzie were found days later, and were returned to New Zealand this month, but Kofie-Jade had remained inaccessible beneath the ruins of the apartment at the Hotel Karibe in Port-au-Prince, where the family was living.
Mrs Sanson-Rejouis' half-brother Jamie Larnach announced as the family prepared for a funeral on Monday at Nelson Cathedral that Kofie-Jade's body had been found.
"It may take some time to bring her home, but the family are immensely relieved she will return to us and be buried with her papa and sister."
