A quad bike rider has fled after leading police on a pursuit through the city this morning.
Police were called to Riccarton after members of the public saw the man riding erratically about 10.40am, Inspector Mike Coulter of southern police communications said.
Police had found the quad bike on Golden Elm Lane, about five minutes after the chase began, but the rider was nowhere in the area, he said.
"The guy abandoned the quad bike and did a runner through some properties and alleys.
"(Police) were talking to some people, but as far as I'm aware they haven't made an arrest yet," Mr Coulter said.
