Qian Xun Xue's grandmother Liu Xiao Ping is expected to arrive in Auckland on Wednesday. She will be met by staff from Child, Youth and Family.
MPs Pansy Wong and Clayton Cosgrove, who have helped fast-track travel processes involving passport, police and health checks, requested the family be given privacy.
"This is not some sort of celebrity gig or a rock concert," said Mr Cosgrove, the Associate Minister of Immigration.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Grace Xue said she was still "open to the possibility" of having custody of her half-sister and would contact Child, Youth and Family and meet Qian Xun and Mrs Liu as soon as appropriate.
