KEY POINTS:
A psychiatric patient who walked out of Dunedin's Ashburn Psychiatric Clinic in her pyjamas on Tuesday was found this morning after eluding searchers for two cold, wet nights.
Megan Woodman, 19, was seen in her pink pyjamas and yellow top this morning walking down a fenceline in the Waikari area, just 1.5km from the clinic, police said.
"A local resident took her in, gave her a bath and some food and called us," Acting Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken, of Dunedin police, said.
Ms Woodman appeared to have spent Tuesday night in a car and last night in a house.
"She managed to keep herself warm and dry," Ms Aitken said. "She's safe and well and back where she should be."
