Push to lift restrictions on the pill

Pharmacists have said there is an "unmet demand" for over-the-counter oral contraceptives.

Pharmacists have asked health authorities to allow the pill to be bought over the counter without prescription.

Stuff.co.nz said Green Cross Health and Pharma Projects want the rules changed on oral contraceptives to meet an "unmet demand".

The Medsafe committee will look at the submission next month.
