Purple sausages invented by New Zealander

A New Zealand sausage-maker has invented the world's first purple cocktail sausage.

Todd Heller, a director of Heller Tasty, tested the sausage on children at two fairs this year, after getting the idea from a sauce-making company that launched green tomato sauce in 2000, and purple sauce in 2002.

"We knew we were on a winner straight after the two fairs when supermarkets in Auckland were swamped for requests for Purplos," he said.
