Two armed men held up a South Auckland bar and stole thousands of dollars from its safe last night, just a few hundred metres from where a man died after an assault at a nightclub three days earlier.
The two men burst into the Trusty Fullback Sports Bar on Station Rd, Manurewa, about 10.20pm and told the 10-12 people inside to get on the floor, Counties Manukau police spokeswoman Ana-Mari Gates Bowey said.
They were very aggressive and swearing at the terrified punters.
One of them was armed with a shotgun and the other had a pistol.
They managed to break into a safe containing thousands of dollars before fleeing in a car that had been stolen from Pakuranga at about 5.30pm.
