A 46-year-old man whose attempt to hold-up a driver using a fake gun was thwarted by members of the public has been arrested.
The man was seen walking on Pages Rd in Linwood this afternoon with a firearm when he stood in front of a car and demanded the driver get out of the vehicle.
The driver followed his instructions before removing the gun from the man. Police said members of the public then ran to his aid and helped apprehend the man until police arrived. St John also attended.
Police arrested the man who is now receiving medical treatment. Charges have not been laid while the investigation is still under way.
Police confirmed the firearm was an imitation pistol.
